Trafficking
in human beings is a serious crime that deprives people of their dignity, freedom and fundamental rights. At the same time, it has serious consequences on the victims’ physical and mental health. However, to date, there has been limited engagement by the global health community in the dialogue or responses to trafficking, with the health needs of trafficked persons having received inadequate attention.
AMELIE is an EU-funded initiative aiming to improve the anti-trafficking response system, by increasing the capacity of health care and frontline service providers to identify, safely refer and provide gender- and trauma-sensitive services to trafficked persons, with a focus on adult women.
